Email Safety Tips

Email Safety Tips

You may think that email is a safe way of communicating, and you would be right. But remember, this can also get you in a lot of trouble if you are not careful. There are many ways that you can jeopardize your personal safety via email. The following email safety tips are meant to help you avoid any issues that could make things bad on you:

1. Never get out any other personal information. There is nothing wrong with communicating with people you just met via email. But until you know for sure who they are, you need to keep your information personal. This includes your address and phone number, most importantly.

2. If you begin to feel threatened in any way you should stop communicating with the other party via email. This is easy enough because you can simply delete anything that they send to you. Depending on your email client you may even be able to block the person from sending emails.

3. Email harassment can be serious. If you feel that nothing else is working and your safety is at risk, talk to somebody who can help. The most logical choice is your parents. They will be able to help you find a solution, no matter what it takes.

You should keep these email safety tips in mind at all times. Remember, email is a great way to communicate but only if you are staying safe while doing so. Use the tips above to stay safe and to avoid any potential problems.
